Individual Health Coverage vs Group Health Coverage

6/21/2010 2:06:35 PM

With today’s rising health care premiums, it is wiser for anyone to be under a group plan instead of an individual plan if the situation allows. We’ve found rates for an employee and his dependents are lower on a group health insurance plan than for an individual plan, especially when considering pre-existing conditions. We make sure our client realizes this and inform them of their options to move to a group health insurance plan. However, this can only be accomplished during the group’s renewal or if there was a credible loss of coverage elsewhere. Changes can be made during open enrollment which is one month prior to the renewal of any group health insurance plan. An employee of a group client from San Mateo needed to do this. All she did was call EVCO Insurance Services and instruct us to add her husband and child under her health plan. We made sure she was added onto the plan immediately, while others are put on our follow up list and changes are made at their renewal. Whether their renewal is due in a month or in the next 10 months, EVCO makes sure to get this done!
